Gmarket Haul – Secret Key (March 2015)

I recently purchased a fair few items from the Korean online shopping mall Gmarket. I have mentioned this site a few times already because it is my main source of online shopping. They have practically everything you might need and mostly at really good prices too.

Today I am going to show the things that I brought from a beauty and makeup line called Secret Key. I always think of this brand as a drugstore type of brand, it’s generally pretty inexpensive and it always seemed to be a little on the ‘cheap’ side to me but that was just going on first impressions.

I have never really bought much of their stuff except for some lip tints which I will talk more about below. Because I was already buying from the seller, (which was the Secret Key official store which like many other skincare and cosmetic brands have their own online mini-shop through Gmarket)  I thought that I may as well get a few other things to try.

I was pleasantly surprised, I just got a couple of things to make it seem worthwhile. It would have been a pretty empty box with just those lipsticks in it.

Sweet Glam Tint Glow (Lip Tint)
Price: 14,900 won (for two)

This is the one thing that I have bought before, also online. It is the ‘Glam Tint’ lipstick. It’s really nice and is made to kind of blend in with your lip color and change to match. I use it all the time, and I have also given it as a gift. I have had many friends ask me for the link. I believe there is a Dior product and that this this is the ‘dupe’ of it, I have not see the Dior one or tried it. The Secret Key one does the trick and I am sure it is way cheaper.

They usually do a deal for two sticks and they now have three other colors to choose from. It comes in four colors, Baby Pink which is the original color then they have added three more colors to the range – Juicy Orange, Pussia Purple and Chic Burgundy

I have the Baby Pink one already but got two more for gifts and then I got the purple and the burgundy ones to try out. I don’t like orange colored makeup, it is really popular over here but it does not look good on me so I did not bother with that one.

Gold Racoony Hydro Gel Eye and Spot Patch
Price: 12,000 won

Yeah, it was weird but I couldn’t resist. I’ve seen it before and always wondered about what it was. Since I was already ordering the Lip Tints it was a perfect time to try it out.

I was not sure what to expect but the packaging is super cute and they were easier to use than expected. You get two under-eye patches and one circle patch you can use for other areas. It has a little plastic stick to help get them out and they go on really easy, once they are on you leave it for about 20 minutes. They felt really cooling and I could see some reduction in the bags under my eyes. According to the product page you can also recycle the used spots into essence. Not entirely sure how to go about that but it’s good to know that you can if you are worried about wastefulness.

Perfume Peeling Body Scrub (200g)
Price: 18,000 won

This was just something I added because I needed one, it was there and I thought ‘why not?’

I just hope it’s not too perfumed as I don’t really like overwhelming scents. It’s not so bad in the shower however as most of it washes away. Looking back there are two selections one pink one where the key words for scent are fruit, feminine and flirty and one purple one where the key words are laundomat, musk and clean. I wish I got the pink one now as I really don’t like musk. I think I will just keep it and give it as a gift.

So that was my box from Secret Key and I also got three snail sheet masks as the gift from here. Most seller even in store will pop some samples or free gifts into your bag or box at the checkout counter. It was just a small box from this one but I also got a few more from other sellers. I will put them up asap.

  1. Do you have any more recommendations for natural looking lip products? I find it quite difficult to buy them in Korea – they usually have a lot of bright neons, corals and pinks but I am into more natural nudes. I have managed to find the Laneige Pure Glossy Lipstick in City Beige but it’s quite exensive compared to Etude House type stuff.

    • Did you try the Jelly Lips-Talk from Etude House they are about 8500 won and have some more subdued shades even the brughter ones aren’t bad because they are more glossy. They also have a few in that range that change color. I have one that looks peach but goes on a nice subtle pink.
