Online Haul and First Impressions – MooGoo and Dusty Girls (June)

MooGoo Haul

I have seen MooGoo and their makeup line Dusty Girls around the blogosphere for a while and had been intrigued. The Dusty Girls line has beautiful packaging. But is was not until I saw fellow blogger SilkyResh’s (from SilkyResh’s Product Reviewspost about her recent purchases that I decided to have a look on the website and actually order something.

This is their website, MooGoo is an Australian company that makes organic and natural skincare prodcuts, the original cream is adapted from the udder cream they use on cows in the dairy industry. The folks at MooGoo saw the benefits of this and adapted it for people to use. Since then they have added many other skincare items to the range and also added the Dusty Girls makeup line.

I originally thought that it would be a good time to buy because I’m going home for a week’s holiday at the end of July. I am planning on doing lots of online shopping and getting it sent to my Parent’s house so that it is there ready for me when I arrive. I only have a week and I have not been home in about 2 and half years so I will have a lot to do. MooGoo is an Australian company so I figured they would ship to New Zealand no problems.

When I looked at their shipping however I found that they shipped to South Korea and it was only a few dollars more than the shipping to New Zealand. Extra bonus I would not have to wait until the end of July to get my shopping. Yay!

One of the good things about the website is that even though the MooGoo skincare and the Dusty Girls makeup are on different websites it all goes into the same shopping basket and it all gets sent together. One of the not so good things is that on the main MooGoo site it is information overload, there is a lot going on on that site. Also (not necessarily a bad thing) be prepared for a lot of cow puns 🙂

One extremely good thing about the whole purchase experience was the speed in which I got my package. I was amazed and was totally not expecting it when it was delivered. I ordered it on the 30th of May and it arrived on the 4th of June. Another nice thing was that I got a letter with it which explained all the products, this was a nice touch and very helpful. There was also brochures for both of the lines that show you all the products available and tell you all about them.

MooGoo Skincare Box MooGoo Haul

So I didn’t go crazy or anything, it is not a huge haul. I just wanted to try it out and I’m very excited because it all looks and smells amazing. Even the box smells amazing and it’s super cute with a cow design on it.

Okay, let’s get mooving (sorry I couldn’t resist) and have a look at what I got:

From the MooGoo skincare line:

MooGoo Skincare

Strawberry Tinted Lip Balm – Comes in a cute milk carton shaped box, the actual product is in a general lip balm type tube. On the box it says ‘Made from edible ingredients because what goes on the lips gets eaten.’ It also says it is ‘Camphor and Chemical Free’ and that there are ‘No beetles in our balm!’ This last part refers to the color, a lot of companies use a red dye made from beetles but MooGoo decided to try something different and used beetroot. It also has a natural strawberry flavour to it.

MooGoo Strawberry Tinted Lipbalm

I have not tried this yet, I have sooo many lip balms open at the moment I really had to force myself to wait. It smells divine though, really natural. I can’t wait to try it, I always like a nice tinted lip balm but it’s hard to find one with a good color. I will let you know how it goes once I try it.

Blemish Cleansing Moisturiser – This comes in a nice pump bottle which I think will be really handy. On the bottle it says ‘Contains no Benzoyl Peroxide’ and ‘No Skin Bleaches, Healthy Looking Skin, 100% Natural Actives, Protects against Blemish Formation’. I am always looking for good products to keep the breakouts at bay so this seemed like it would be a good one to try.

MooGoo Blemish Cream

I’m about half way through another acne moisturiser so have not started this yet. I will do an update when I have tried it for a while so I can tell you more about it.

Samples: You can choose from a selection of samples so I chose the Scalp Cream, it’s 6ml and comes in a nice little tube. They also are trialling a Natural Face Scrub which contains coffee so I opted in for that too. It comes in a lovely little pot and smells exactly like coffee grinds, it has other things in it too but that one is obviously the strongest smelling, I’m not a coffee drinker but I do like the smell so this is nice. We will see how it goes on the face.

Gift: The wonderful folks from MooGoo also threw in a lovely gift with a note to say how they appreciated the business from distant shores so they included this additional bottle of Scalp Cream and sample of Anti-Ageing Face Cream that I could either pass on or keep for myself.

From the Dusty Girls makeup line:

Dusty Girls

Earth Cream in Light – This is a ‘Natural Tinted Cream with Ingredients for Acne Prone Skin’. It comes in a pretty yellow box, I really like the Dusty Girls packaging, it looks great. Also the box is made from recycled cardboard and be recycled again. It is SPF5 and comes in two shades, light and dark.

This is similar to a bb cream but it has a lot more natural ingredients in it than I think many of them do. I was not sure if I was going to like it as I thought it would be more like a tinted moisturizer but I did want to give it a chance. I am very glad I did, I am really impressed with my first sampling of it. I’ve only tried it once so far and that was just to see what it looked like on. I have not worn it out yet. It’s really lightweight and it gave a nice natural coverage. I’m going to wear it over the weekend to see if I still like it. So far so good and I will do a review once I have tried and tested it a lot more.

Dusty Girls Earth Cream Dusty Girls Earth Cream

Natural Mineral Lip Shine in Argyle Pink – This is a Natural Mineral Lip shine that uses edible ingredients like the lip balm I mentioned above. Their motto is that if it goes on the lips then it’s going to be eaten so it should be edible, which makes sense. So no lead and no carmine (beetles). Like the Earth Cream it has the pretty packaging that I like, this one is in pink is also recyclable of course. The actual lip shine tube is really pretty too, it’s also a nice slim size for popping in your pocket or purse.

The color is really pretty, on the box it says ‘The Pink Argyle Diamond found in the Kimberley Region of Western Australia is a rare beauty found within it’s rugged and beautiful landscape.’ The color is quite sheer but with a really nice shine and hue to it. I’m really liking it so far.

Sample: I got a sample of the mineral powder also, they had note on the site to say that if you wanted to try it then put a note in the comments. I was really interested to try it but had no idea about what color I should pick. They do have a handy chart that you can use to find your shade but my skin tone is one of those that is in the middle so I was still not certain. This way I can make sure it is the right one before I buy it. I got Fair Minerals with Sunset Tones.

All of their products come with a warning that natural products should be patch tested first. As with trying anything new I would recommend this as you never know what you are going to be react to. I’ve started to do this more now than I used to, I try so many things so it’s better to be safe than sorry.

You can see I didn’t get a huge amount but just enough try it out and see what all the fuss is about. I have to say that so far I am very impressed. This is a great company to check out if you are looking for natural, organic and eco friendly products. They don’t test on animals and their packaging is recyclable which make me very happy.
