2016 Beauty Favorites

Obviously I am posting this a bit late. However it’s just a repost of my favorites that I put up over on Instagram a little while back. I thought it would be nice to add it here also.

To be a contender for my list I had to have started using the product in 2016 or for ones about packaging I have to have purchased it in 2016. Sometimes I forget but I try to keep it to that criteria. I will also undoubtedly miss some as it’s hard to keep track of everything.

First up is skincare, body and hair

J.One Jelly Pack

Tony Moly Red Apple Hand Cream

Faith in Face Magic Mud Ball – 7 in 1 Effect Mud Mask

Holika Holika Jewel-Light Under Eye Essence

Half Moon Eyes Pink Fruity – Dragonfruit Mask

Innisfree Green Tea Mint Fresh Scalp Scaler

Cosrx One Step Pimple Clear Pad

Next is favorite lip products

This year was super hard and I know I missed some. You guy know how much I love my lip products. There are just too many to choose from but these are ones that I have been wearing a lot so will have to do for now.

Missha Glossy Lip Rouge in no.GPK03 Wanna Pink

Ameli Lipsticks in no.929 Tinted Bon Bon

Etude House Berry Delicious Color In Liquid Lips in no.GR701 Berry Kiwi TokTok

I’m Meme I’m Fix Lip in no.FL02 Night Fix

Labiotte Wine Lipstick Fitting in no.RD02 Malbec Burgundy

CLIO Tension Lip in no.7 Some

Glamfox Fleruissant Lip Glow in no.GL04 Rose Flower

Favorite Face Makeup

Not that many because I wanted to choose products that I’ve used a lot. I have many products that I have used once or twice and I liked but I feel like this should be products that I use most often especially if I am in a hurry and need something I know works.

ifactory Coverst Moisture Killing Cushion in no.23 Natural Beige

So Natural Powder 4 Room All Day Tight Make Up Setting Fixx

Holika Holika Cover & Hiding Liquid Concealer in no.1 Light Beige

Innisfree Cushion Primer with Jeju Green Tea and Mineral Powder

3CE Back To Baby Make Up Base in Mint Green

Favorite Eye Makeup

This category is hard for me. I like to buy them but I don’t use them as much because I have very hooded eyes and I never learned how to do makeup for them. But I have a few things that are easy to use and really pretty. Also my favorite mascara this year is not Korean so that’s why there is no mascara here this time.

The Saem Eco Soul Gel Lasting Eye Tint in no.RD01 Red at least once (I actually like all the colors but I chose this one as my favourite to represent them all)

Holika Holika Pro:Beauty Foxy Eyeliner in no.05 Burgundy

Witch’s Pouch Witch’s Fit Stick Shadow in no.04

Witch’s Pouch Witch’s Fit Stick Shadow in no.06

Etude House Look At My Eyes (Budapest Collection) in no.BK806 Budapest Romance

A’pieu Mineral Mono Shadow – Matte (Rilakkuma Edition) in no.MRD101 Blossom

Miscellaneous Favorites

These are just some bits and pieces that don’t really fit in the other categories. You may notice these are all basically things that make my life easier, I’m very lazy so anything that helps is a winner in my book.

CNP Laboratory Dual Oil Conrol Paper (Natural and Powder)

Etude House All Finish Line Remover Stick

Etude House Puff & Brush Cleaning Mist

So Natural Powder 4 Room Makeup Brush Dry Clean Sponge

The Face Shop Lovely Me:ex Petit I Perfume Stick in no.02 Sweet Cube

Favorite Collaboration

Choosing a favorite collaboration for 2016 was really hard. There were some really good ones but I have to go with the first one from 2016 as it kind of set the tone for the rest of the year.

Missha x Line Friends Collection.

I actually have a more from this collection than I have pictured but it’s scattered all over the place in different cupboards and such so this is what I could find quickly. I think we can all agree it is wonderfully cute.

I also decided to make this two categories this year. Favorite collaboration and favorite collection. For 2015 I called it Favorite Collection but it was a collaboration that won. 2016 had so much cool stuff that I think it needed an extra category.

Favorite Collection

As promised this is the new category of ‘Favorite Collection’ and this was hard too. It basically came down to this one and the runner up which was Etude House’s Berry Delicious line. I really liked that one too especially the lip colors and the bread shaped sponge was too cute especially paired with the jam-like body wash.

However the winner for 2016 best collection goes to The Face Shop for their Happy Halloween Pumpkin Collection. This is just adorable packaging and it’s basically made up of hand cream and lip balm which are my two favorite things.

Favorite Non-Korean products

Just for a bit of a change from all the K-beauty. I’m also adding a favorite packaging category for non-Korean too. So I will do one post fave packaging for Korean products like I did last year and then one new post for non-Korean.

Rimmel Wonder’Full Wake Me Up Mascara with Vitamins and Cucumber

Clinque Superprimer Color Corrects Redness

Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in no.6E03 Girly

NYX Incredible Waterproof Concealer in no.CS03 Light

Essence Happy Girls are Pretty Eyeshadow Palette in no.01 Happiness is. . . Seeing Your Smile

Essence Happy Girls are Pretty Eyeshadow Palette in no.02 Happiness is. . . Following Your Heart

Also not pictured because I forgot to put them in are a couple more:

Professional Sebastian Penetraitt Shampoo and Conditioner

Elizabeth Arden Eight-Hour Lip Protectant stick

Evolu Protective Day Cream SPF15

Best Packaging

This category is so hard because there was a lot to choose from. I’m sure I have forgotten some awesome things. Also remember that this has nothing to do with what is inside it is purely on looks. And I will be doing the non-Korean post next.

IPKN Twinkle Velvet Founcushion (Esther Loves You Edition)

RoundAround Banana Milk Moisturizing Hand Cream

Baviphat Sugar Girl Peach Sebum Solution Pact

Tony Moly Panda’s Dream Pocket Lip Balm

Beyond Save Us! Shadow

Etude House Snowy Dessert Ginger Cookie Contour Maker (this was the 2015 xmas line but as it was the end of the year I’m counting it with 2016)

Holika Holika Lazy & Easy Jelly Dough Blusher (Gudetama Edition) and also the Peeling Gel in this line but I couldn’t find it for the pic.

The Face Shop CC Cooling Cushion (Disney Edition)

Favorite Non-Korean packaging

Another extra category I added this year. I was able to do a bit of overseas shopping this year and so I have a lot of cute stuff and it needed it’s own category. Again this is purely based on packaging. Some of the stuff I haven’t tried yet.

Neve Cosmetics Unicornbuki and Foxbuki Vegan Cruelty-Free Makeup Brushes

Moisture Mist Beauty Cake (2016 Limited Edition)

Jill Stuart Melty Lip Balm

Duwop Isla Sirena Sea Shell Compcts (I have a Cheek Dual, Lip Dual and Eye Dual)

Pupa Milano Pupacat Make Up Kit

Sanrio AC Wonder Collect Powder Gudetama

Favorite Hand Cream

It was slim pickings this time compared with the year before when I picked up a load of cute ones.

This year I just have three sets and although the Nature Republic ones have been out before they were re-released in 2016 which was when I finally picked up a set for myself.

So the winners of best hand creams (based on a combination of mostly packaging and that the product is at least usable) goes to:

Labiotte Young Leaf Handcreams in Green Tea, Cranbutter and Olive

Nature Republic Friends Hand Cream in Fruity, Baby Powder and Sweet

Holika Holika The Sweet Dessert Lazy & Joy Hand Creams (Gudetama Edition) in Cream Cheese, Sherbet and Custard

  1. All the cute packaging kills me. Also, I was intrigued to see that the eye color changer/sponge made your list. I bought one, too, and it does seem to work very well, but I hate seeing all the shadows on the sponge. Makes me feel like it’s just accruing dirt ๐Ÿ˜– How often do you wash yours and how do you know when it’s time to wash?

    1. I just wash it when it looks dirty, probably not as often as I should. But as you say you can see the shadow on it so when it builds up first I flip it and use the other side then when that’s dirty too I wash it. I don’t have that many brushes so it’s good to be able to use the same one for more than one color.
